At the recent COP 15 United Nations Biodiversity Conference (Part 1), iFLYTEK presented its innovative AI-enabled smart services to overwhelming applause.
The UN conference themed “Ecological Civilization-Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth”, gathered attendees from a multitude of different countries in Kunming, Yunnan Province, which is well known for its biodiversity. iFLYTEK’s simultaneous interpretation system provided the attendees with automatic speech transcription, translation and filing services at more than 20 sub-events, including the opening ceremony and closing ceremony. The UN conference was a resounding success, as iFLYTEK was able to witness the creation of Kunming Declaration and other significant developments while in attendance.
The simultaneous interpretation system works based on iFLYTEK’s core technologies, including speech transcription, machine translation and speech synthesis. In addition to speech recognition, machine translation and automatic recording, the system supports other functions including displaying translated subtitles in real time. Attendees can also scan the QR codes provided to view conference records and listen to conferences interpreted into different languages through the speech synthesis function on their phones. Used in combination with human interpreters, the system can make multilingual services at conferences more professional and flexible.
iFLYTEK’s simultaneous interpretation system and other AI technologies are expected to provide multilingual services at more international events and to assist with universal issues such as education, environmental protection and biodiversity. Through utilizing the available technology, these concerning areas can be receive the additional attention and support they need.
The COP 15 United Nations Biodiversity Conference, originally scheduled for October 2020, was postponed and divided into two parts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second part is scheduled for the first half of 2022, also in Kunming.
