Since its adoption in 2021, iFLYTEK’s smart system “iFLYREC” has been successfully helping students and teachers in a special education center in northeast China’s Changchun City. Integrated technology continues to play an increasingly important role in special education, where systems like iFLYREC can reduce barriers to success.
A hearing-impaired teacher at the Changchun Special Education School for hearing-impaired children has taught information technology for 20 years, but recently shared with iFLYTEK that before the school adopted iFLYREC, he had difficulty working with his hearing colleagues. Collaboration for lesson planning was limited, because he needed to give his full attention to the sign language interpreter. Now, the “iFLYREC” system can transcribe what his colleagues say in real time for him to read at ease, allowing him to participate in the discussion more effectively. At the end of each group meeting, the system instantly produces audio and text records for review.
The iFLYREC smart system also facilitates classroom learning at the special education center. Ma Wenling, President of the Changchun Special Education Center, shared “The large amount of jargon in some professional lectures can be demanding for sign language interpreters. To solve the problem, the iFLYREC system transcribes the lectures in real time and presents the words on screen for students to read and quickly understand.” She added that the smart system would be installed in more spaces across the Center including the auditorium, playground, and meeting rooms in the school, to further help teachers and students receive information in a timely and accurate way.
