BEIJING, China — September 16, 2019 — iFLYTEK became the exclusive supplier for the Official Automated Translation Software of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Just two weeks ago, iFLYTEK received the Super A.I. Leader (SAIL) Award at the 2019 World A.I. Conference (WAIC). The conference recognized the company’s outstanding achievement in developing next generation speech translation technology, the exact reason it was selected by the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee to represent many great Chinese companies in helping people to communicate.
iFLYTEK began its journey twenty years ago. The company is on the cutting edge of technological development and continues to be among the best in voice technologies, natural language processing, machine reasoning and adaptive learning. Since 2018, it has championed 20 world titles in major evaluations and events.
“iFLYTEK will be a proud partner of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, providing trustworthy products and services in automated speech conversion and translation. We are excited to work with the committee to make Beijing 2022 a place for barrier-free communication. We are confident that our technologies will help to deliver our voices and stories, and ultimately our overall images as a nation”, said Mr. Liu Qingfeng, chairman and CEO of iFLYTEK.
“The committee salutes athletes and guests from around the world. We recognize iFLYTEK’s great efforts in bringing innovative solutions to international cooperation and cultural exchange. With the promotion of the winter games and smart utilization of technologies in speech recognition, speech synthesis and machine translation, we will definitely see good changes in how people interact with machines and how they reach out to each other.” Ms. Yu Hong, Minister of Technology from the committee said in a speech addressed to the media. She added that the committee looks forward to using those state-of-the-art technologies to transform labor-intensive works into modern and smart services, breaking language barriers and making Beijing a communication hub for the international community.
At the ceremony, iFLYTEK introduced Xiaoqing, the A.I. anchor that can speak Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Russia and a number of other languages. Xiaoqing did a news broadcast with smooth switching between several world languages, showcasing the potential of application in the newsroom for the winter games.
The company has also demonstrated a voice makeover on minister Yu’s speech. “We will make Beijing 2022 an extraordinary event with the assembly of all resources,” originally said by Ms. Yu and simulated by machine. The representative from iFLYTEK mentioned this is one of the company’s latest technologies in intelligent speech, used in compliance with all safeness measures and requirements.
“One of the greatest spirits of the Olympics is mutual understanding,” Mr. Liu Qingfeng said. iFLYTEK will work closely with the committee and other suppliers to bring smart services to the winter games and add zest to this great gathering. Fully in alignment with the Olympic ideals, the company will make sure it helps athletes and guests to engage and celebrate the event, without being held back by the communication barriers. Under the collective wisdom and sportsmanship, Beijing 2022 will be truly remarkable and unforgettable in the Olympic history!
